1975. Dr DA Henderson posed for a series of photos for a WHO publication. At top, studying a map; at bottom, examining a child's vaccination scar. Publicity of the smallpox eradication program was essential in raising scarce funds and vaccine, but difficult to get. WHO's small communications office served the entire organization.
